Nuclear Fire Protection Engineer – Remote

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Fire Protection Engineer to support engineering, design, analysis, and modification activities for nuclear facilities.
This position will provide fire protection engineering expertise in support of facility upgrades and modifications. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, operations, licensing, safety, and fire protection professionals to support safe, compliant, and successful project execution.
The ideal candidate will have experience within nuclear power, nuclear facilities, or another highly regulated environment, along with a strong understanding of fire protection engineering principles, regulatory requirements, and nuclear safety.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and support fire hazard analyses, fire risk evaluations, fire area assessments, and fire protection engineering calculations.
Provide technical expertise for modifications involving fire detection and alarm systems, suppression systems, fire barriers, fire doors, fire dampers, fire pumps, water supplies, and passive fire protection features.
Evaluate fire hazards and their potential impact on safety-related, non-safety-related, and risk-significant systems, structures, and components.
Support deterministic and risk-informed fire protection analyses.
Interpret and apply applicable NRC requirements, NFPA codes and standards, and nuclear industry guidance.
Develop engineering calculations, evaluations, technical reports, specifications, procedures, and supporting documentation.
Support fire protection system design, modifications, testing, inspection, and maintenance activities.
Participate in engineering design reviews, configuration management activities, and facility modification projects.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
Support regulatory, licensing, inspection, and audit activities as required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
Professional experience in fire protection engineering, nuclear power, nuclear facilities, industrial fire protection, or another highly regulated industry.
Knowledge of fire protection engineering principles, including fire detection and suppression systems, passive fire protection, fire barriers, and fire risk assessment.
Familiarity with applicable fire protection codes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Strong engineering analysis, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
Ability to interpret technical and regulatory requirements and apply sound engineering judgment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with one or more of the following are strongly encouraged to apply:
Nuclear power plant or other nuclear facility experience.
Experience with NRC fire protection requirements and nuclear licensing bases.
Familiarity with NFPA 805, Appendix R, or related nuclear fire protection requirements.
Experience with Fire PRA, probabilistic risk assessment, fire modeling, or risk-informed engineering.
Experience with fire protection system design, testing, inspection, or maintenance.
Experience supporting nuclear facility modifications or engineering change packages.
Experience supporting regulatory inspections, audits, or licensing activities.
Knowledge of nuclear safety, defense-in-depth, and safety-related design requirements.

Position Summary:
Apply engineering principles, techniques and practices in the preparation and/or review of electrical design engineering products.
Design knowledge of nuclear plant electrical systems including control systems, safety systems, and power distribution systems (low to high AC voltage) in order to perform:
•Loads analysis on various electrical systems
•Coordination studies for circuits using software such as ETAP
•Voltage drop and short circuit calculations
•Relay protection schemes
Perform electrical analysis, equipment protection, cable and electrical equipment selection, develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs.
Use of the Standard Design Process to develop modification packages for electrical modifications and Digital upgrades.
Prepare detailed engineering documentation that includes scoping, problem statement, solutions, design input/output, system/equipment requirement specifications, and testing requirements.
Create new/update schematics, one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
Condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, and generators.
Experience with industry codes and standards 70, IEEE, and IEC.

We are seeking a Electrical Design Engineer – Nuclear Power (Direct Hire, Remote)
About the Role:
We are partnered with a top nuclear industry leader to hire a Electrical Design Engineer with direct nuclear power experience. This is a direct hire, in-house position offering full benefits, paid time off, and remote flexibility. Mechanical Engineer position summary:
Apply engineering principles, techniques and practices in the preparation and/or review of mechanical design work products such as; use of the Standard Design Process (SDP) to develop modification packages, P&ID's, system and equipment requirement specifications, FMEA, system design documents, condition assessments of mechanical equipment, systems, and components. Provides expert advice on design processes and construction methods. Assist with the development of design and construction drawings.
Ensure effective communication among other engineering disciplines.

Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
3–5+ years of progressively responsible civil/structural engineering experience in the nuclear power industry (required).
Knowledge of civil/structural engineering fundamentals including mechanics, hydraulics, materials science, and statistical analysis.
Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
Proficiency with engineering-based programs such as Mathcad or Matlab.
Hands-on experience with Finite Element Analysis software and/or analysis techniques.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment while being a self-starter.
Proven ability to deliver work with a high degree of accuracy, detail, and independence.

The Engineering Manager works closely with the Director of Engineering to define and implement departmental strategies in support of goals and organizational objectives.
Responsibilities:
Management:
- Maintain a positive and effective leadership role through effective communication, one-on-one meetings, defined roles & responsibilities, clear expectations, regular guidance and feedback, and established priorities

We are seeking a Pipe Stress Analysis Engineer – Nuclear Power (Direct Hire, Remote)
About the Role
We are partnered with a top nuclear industry leader to hire a Pipe Stress Analysis Engineer with direct nuclear power experience. This is a direct hire, in-house position offering full benefits, paid time off, and remote flexibility. Major Duties / Responsibilities
Apply engineering principles, techniques and practices in the preparation and/or review of engineering work products for existing power plants as well as new plants
Use of the Standard Design Process (SDP) to develop modification packages, P&ID's, isometric drawings, create pipe stress analysis models, prepare piping & engineering specifications in accordance with code requirements
Perform review of complex calculations, design deliverables, and lead small to medium projects or serve as technical lead on complex projects.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
5+ years of relevant mechanical design & pipe stress analysis experience
Knowledge of mechanical & nuclear codes, standards, and regulations that apply to the design of nuclear power plants (ME101, ASME, B31.1)
Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
Hands-on experience with Pipe Stress Analysis software and/or analysis techniques (AutoPIPE & SuperPipe)
Proven ability to deliver work with a high degree of accuracy, detail, and independence
Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future
