I&C REverse Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Reverse Engineer to support the commercial nuclear industry. This onsite, lab-based position focuses on reverse engineering, analyzing, and modernizing critical I&C systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in safety-related electronics and a strong working knowledge of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B Quality Assurance programs.
Key Responsibilities

Perform reverse engineering of legacy and aging I&C components, systems, and hardware in a controlled lab environment.

Conduct detailed testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electronic circuits, hardware, and software.

Apply expertise in safety-related electronics to support nuclear safety and regulatory compliance.

Ensure all work adheres to 10 CFR 50 Appendix B Quality Assurance requirements.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, schematics, and qualification reports.

Support the design and development of replacement solutions for obsolete or unsupported I&C equipment.

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, QA, and regulatory teams to deliver compliant and reliable solutions.

Provide technical insight for modernization and life-extension projects in the commercial nuclear sector.
Qualifications
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.

5+ years of experience with I&C systems in the commercial nuclear or other highly regulated industries.

Hands-on experience with reverse engineering, electronics testing, and troubleshooting in a lab setting.

Strong knowledge of safety-related electronics and Appendix B QA programs.

Proficiency in analog/digital circuit design, control systems, and embedded systems.

U.S. Citizen (must meet security and access requirements for nuclear facilities).
Preferred:

Prior experience with NRC regulations and nuclear QA programs.

Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, and EPRI standards for nuclear I&C systems.

Experience supporting obsolescence management, modernization, or life-extension projects.

Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus.
